Lives and works in Rome
Khete's work was born out of a communicative need and developed around a reflection on language. Drawing first, and then painting, methodologies that need to constantly explain their reason for being and justify their existence. The gesture here is each and every time a clear and unique affirmation of what is historically and culturally problematical. The apparent exuberance that remains etched on the paper is each time the result of a real gamble: what will remain of the initial impulse once it has passed through the censorial filter of history? To keep the process as open as possible, sources and forms have alternated, changed, over the years. From figurative references close to the vernacular, to absolute forms of pure colour, all represent possible vocabularies that tend towards the same goal: the necessary act.
